Yes, it's true. Two full days before the July 1, 2000 deadline, Necon 2000 (insert thunder sound here) OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT. Knock it off with the whining, wouldja? You can't say we didn't warn you-- by golly, we put that deadline date up here literally months ago, not to mention the fact that we kept reminding everyone what a grand old time we're going to have (no, not to mention that at all, we would never gloat, oh no). So here it is, the final list of our Year 200 Necon Campers, organized in highly technical alphabetical format. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
In keeping with the long-standing tradition of athleticism at Necon, the committee is announcing the first "Necon Olympics." Starting Friday morning, a series of grueling athletic competitions will be held. Events will include Miniature Golf, Croquet, Hi-Lo-Jack, 8-ball, and the justly famous softball game. Medals? Yes, artist Richard Sardinha has designed and cast gold, silver, and bronze medals (with black ribbons) for each event. Check out the photo to see what these highly sought-after medals look like. The deadline to sign up via email for these events is July 1. You can register for any or all events. Miniature Golf players will have to pay a $5 greens fee at the door (to cover the cost of bus and play), and will receive complimentary pizza, soda, and arcade game tokens. Athletic Sign-Ups as of 6/27: Miniature Golf: 23. Eight Ball: 14. Croquet: 14. Hi-Lo-Jack: 10. Softball: 10. We weren't going to, but we have decreed that softball shall, after all, be a medal sport... sort of. An extra set of medals will be given out to the "three stars" of the softball game as chosen by a vote of credentialed sports writers in attendance, much like at hockey games. So far Bob Booth is the only one, so anyone with sports-writing credentials can contact Dan Booth. Anyone who would like to bribe the only sitting judge, can contact Bob Booth.

And lest life has made you forget: As of 6/28/200, Necon is OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT. A few words straight from the mouth of Our Esteemed Necon Chairman: "333 copies of the book will be printed. All are identical. There will be no special copies (i.e. signed, numbered, human skin, etc.). The book will NEVER be reprinted, once the printed copies are received from the printer the PageMaker file will be deleted..."
